Pengaruh Pelatihan Partisipatif dalam Meningkatkan Kinerja Bidan terhadap Pelayanan Antenatal di Kotamadya Surakarta

An intervention to improve midwives performance is to give specific accessible information concerning the skills in providing antenatal care service through technical training the technical training method for midwives so far is only lecturing, question and answer, which classified as on participative methods.

Many studies reveal that lecturing method that involve trainees participation can produce much better result. Alternative method tried out in this study is participative training by combining several methods such as lecturing, question and answer, simulation, demonstration, discussion, equipped with learning modules.

The objectives of this study are to evaluate the midwives performance in implementing antenatal care service, to compare the performance of midwives before and after participative and non participative interventions, and to identify the influence of age, working experience, additional courses to knowledge and skills required to perform antenatal care.

The design of this study is an experiment using pretest and post test. The subjects of this study are 30 midwives in participative training method and 30 others in non participative training.

The results of the study show that : 1) midwives attending participative training method gained better knowledge that those attending non participative method, 2) midwives using participative training method performed better skills than those using non participative method, 3) age, working period and additional courses gained during working give no influence to the skills performance in antenatal care service either for participative or non participative training method.

To improvising qualified antenatal care service, this study recommend a combining several training system to improve responses and retention, so the change of skills can be attained.
